Teaching independent swimming from birth, Puddle Ducks want every child to love swimming, respect the water and swim beautifully. Lessons are taught in specially selected pools with limited class sizes
In Floaties, we teach you to confidently handle your baby in water, with a strong focus on parent and child bonding. We show you the holds and teach you about their reflexes in the water, helping you to build confidence. Classes are gentle, with the pace just right for very young babies. A typical 30 minute session would include the following: safe entry into the water, songs with fun activities to stimulate kicking and splashing, floating, parent and baby swims and an introduction to the underwater environment, if your baby is ready and willing. Babies move to Splashers at nine months however, depending on the baby’s development, confidence and ability, they could move into Splashers at six months if a space is available. There are many benefits to staying in Floaties, such as: 💦In Splashers floating on the back is not a core activity so it is important to keep babies in Floaties as long as possible to provide them with a prolonged opportunity to practice this key skill. Floating on the back helps with head down swimming and excellent alignment on the front which is needed in future programmes. 💦The pace in Floaties is more relaxed than in Splashers, giving parents the time to gain confidence in handling their babies in the correct way which is vital for parents to be able to aid their child’s progression in future programmes. 💦Within the Floaties programme time is spent on educating parents on how best to introduce the underwater environment through child-led activities. There’s plenty of opportunities within activities to progress a baby, depending on their age and ability – there’s also lots of opportunities for child-led swims.
