The DaCapo Music Foundation

30 minute sessions for babies and toddlers – up to three years.

This is a gentle preparatory class, giving young ones an initial experience in joining in with a group; responding to the teacher and enjoying music, using a wide range of simple songs and musical games in a relaxed environment with their parents or carers. They begin ‘tuning in’ and the preparation is made for the more structured environment of the DaCapo Early Years Programme. 

 45 minute sessions for three to five year olds

During the sessions, children are expertly introduced to all of the elements that make up music: pulse, pitch, rhythm, improvisation, music reading and coordination. They also explore the expressive qualities of music and build social skills of cooperation, participation, contribution, leading and following and taking turns. At this early stage simple and more abstract musical concepts are absorbed unconsciously, laying foundations for intuitive understanding and the ability to articulate complex musical ideas later on. 

Everything is taught through song and with the use of simple percussion instruments. We use especially commissioned high-quality repertoire, suited to young voices, creative and with a good dose of humour!
